Orthofix Medical Reports the US FDA’s Clearance of Fitbone Transport and Lengthening System

- The US FDA has granted 510(k) clearance to the company’s Fitbone Transport and Lengthening System that supports and lengthens the bone in a single surgery
- The device is intended for treating large bone defects in the femur and tibia due to trauma, infectious or malignant conditions
- The device employs motorized technology from the Fitbone TAA Intramedullary Lengthening System. It is a minimally invasive procedure comprising a motorized intramedullary nail, receiver, and external control set that allows patients to regulate the distraction phase at home; nail and receiver are removed after treatment
